Susan Schrembs, the Director of Cost Management Services, has been leading Premier in a wellness campaign that began in April 2012.
The month of April was National Walk Your Way to a Healthier Life – and the Premier team participated. All employees were presented with a pedometer as well as a 5,000 steps a day tracking sheet. Bill Brothers, our CEO, donated towards prizes for us to win ($25/week and $100 the final week of April). In order to receive a weekly drawing “ticket” into the fishbowl you had to do the following:
- COMPLETE 35,000 STEPS PER WEEK = 1 TICKET
- COMPLETE 52,500 STEPS PER WEEK = 2 TICKETS
- COMPLETE 100,000 STEPS PER WEEK = 3 TICKETS
Tracking sheets were submitted to Sue on Monday mornings and the drawing happened on Monday afternoons. Kristy Long, Renee Thompson, Cindy Hagen, Beth Rosokoff and Sue Schrembs were all winners of the challenge.
For May 2012, Sue implemented a “Chug-a-Jug” water hydration challenge. During this, employees used a tracking log that broke down their daily water intake. Once again, Bill donated towards a prize at the end of the challenge. We used a fishbowl to collect our tickets and we would receive them as follows:
- 4 – 8oz glasses = 1 ticket
- 6 – 8oz glasses = 2 tickets
- 8 – 8oz glasses = 3 tickets
- 9+ – 8oz glasses = 4 tickets
The prize was $100 and we were responsible for putting our name on our tickets and putting them in the fishbowl on Cindy Hagen’s desk. After weeks of heavy H2O – Deb Louttit was crowned the winner! Throughout the contest – we learned that adequate hydration is important because it helps you stay slimmer, boosts your energy, nourishes your skin and even helps reduce stress.
For August/September 2012, Sue has planned to implement the “Metabolic Syndrome Campaign.” During this challenge, employees would make changes in their lifestyles to prevent things such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and strokes.
